October 2026 daily stitching

I’m beginning with a reminder that today is the last day you can purchase my pre-printed daily stitching fabric, for UK customers here, and for the rest of the world here. There won’t be pre-printed 2027 fabric, but I will make a video next month showing how I transfer the paper templates to cloth.

That’s the business announcements done, and now onto the real business — it’s hard to believe, but here we are at the end of another month.

October daily stitching

A few stitches every day, and this is what happens.

October daily stitching

Time flies, and no amount of stitching will tie it down. All we can do is watch it pass and place a few marks on cloth to say we saw it go.

Today’s square is top right in the photo above. The wheel turns, from autumn to winter. Inexorably, inevitably, nothing stands still.

The whole thing is a portrait of time. The joy is in the moment, and when the moment passes it becomes a memory, the past, in the blink of an eye.

October daily stitching, detail

Every day a little framed oasis, a refuge, a sanctuary.

We can look back, and we can look ahead, but we can only live in the transient, ephemeral moment we know as ‘now’.

Tomorrow is an intangible concept that changes some lives forever, and yet we are brave enough to keep moving towards it into the empty space ahead.

November ahoy!

  1. Hi Karen, your words, “Time flies…………,” are so poignant. I hope you don’t mind but I have included them in my personal paper journal with a photo of one of my stitching projects. I have found that as a person gets older, time flies infinitely faster and your words describe that bittersweetness. As I do my daily stitch meditation with you I try to stitch down as much time as I can! Thank you for always being my biggest inspiration.

    Cheers,

    1. Thanks so much Wendy, how lovely — no I don’t mind at all. It’s true, time flies even faster as I get older. Here we are hurtling towards yet another Christmas (too soon for the C-word, I know 😆 but honestly it will be January before we know it). Life should come with a seatbelt so we can strap in as it speeds up!
